Dental academic software offers seamless integration of operations

Dental school software offers the kind of seamless integration necessary for overcoming the barriers to implementing technology into both the clinical and academic environment.

According to a recent article in The Washington Post, oral health facilities have embraced much higher standards for innovation over the last several years. While much of this change is a direct result of federal incentives for implementing meaningful use of electronic health records into ongoing operations, the trend has evolved to include other parts of the care process as well. For example, the newspaper said many clinics have taken it upon themselves to design the office space in a way that complements the increasingly paperless nature of day-to-day responsibilities.

While oral health providers have made substantial efforts to boost the efficiency of their operations, incorporating new tools into a larger setting isn't without its challenges. In fact, Becker's Hospital Review compiled responses from of the nation's leading health care institutions regarding the struggles they have experienced to connect EHRs with previously existing infrastructure. Chris Van Gorder, president and CEO of Scripps Health in San Diego, told the publication that the process has been relatively frustrating.

"Contributing to that frustration has been a lack of interoperability between various electronic medical records systems and many of the other hospital and clinic applications that generate patient data," he explained.

Dental universities have a particular need for full-scale integration of technology. In addition to operating community clinics, these academic institutions must also maintain a relevant education curriculum for students in the classroom. The right dental school software enables administrators to achieve this seamless transition. Rather than wasting time and productivity getting used to a new tool that doesn't exactly fit into the overall organization, comprehensive management software is a much more flexible and reliable alternative.
